This was a multi-day, 100km hike through the Harz Mountains, one of Germany's most known hiking regions, steeped in folklore about witches and old-world mysticism. The Harz is famous for its connection to the "Brocken witches," with stories of their gatherings on the highest peak, Brocken Mountain.
The hike included a climb up Brocken Mountain, where a historic steam train still operates. The view from Brocken is well worth the journey, with panoramic vistas that stretch over the Harz.
This hike was both physically challenging but offering a unique combination of nature. Each day on the trail was an experience, walking through changing landscapes that felt like they belonged to another time.
